I’ve been blogging about sports in one way or another since 2011. I started this website in 2020, prior to that I had a blog on Blogger called Betzig Sports. I’ve been publishing my college football power ratings and my college basketball bracketology since 2011, my bracketology is featured in the Bracket Matrix.
I live in Chicago where I work as a quantitative trader, as I have done since graduating from college in 2020. I studied applied math and economics at Brown, and because Brown is so bad at sports this allowed me to keep my childhood fandom for the Michigan State Spartans. My favorite teams are Michigan State basketball, Michigan State football, the Baltimore Orioles and the Detroit Lions. Unfortunately, I’ve never seen any of them win a championship as I was only one year old when Mateen Cleaves led the Spartans to glory in 2000. I’ve only ever seen one championship game appearance from my teams, which fueled a hate for Tyler Hansbrough.
Outside of sports, some of my favorite hobbies include geography and travel (I have a very aspirational goal of going to all 3,144 U.S. county or county equivalents), crossword puzzles (I have an unhealthy obsession with my New York Times crossword streak) and trivia (I am an exceedingly mediocre player in the Learned League). I also love math and world history and will gladly take any book recommendations on either subject.
